Introducing Virtual Card: More Speed, Security and ControlCompany Updates
The Bento for Business team is excited to introduce virtual cards—now available in your account*! You can manage both your virtual and physical cards on Bento’s convenient desktop + mobile platform, with the same spending controls you know and love.
What are virtual cards?
Virtual cards are credit or debit cards in digital form. Instead of being physically issued and printed, Bento’s virtual debit cards are instantly generated and stored online in your account.
What’s great about Bento virtual cards?
Without the plastic, virtual cards can be more efficient and secure than physical cards. No need to worry about losing or misplacing them; you only retrieve your virtual card information online when you need it.
- Speed: Instantly create and save virtual cards online. Each virtual card can be used for as many purchases as you need.
- Security: Securely access card information via your account at any time, and restrict which admins can do this.
- Control: Enjoy the same powerful card controls available on your physical Bento cards. Turn any virtual card on or off with one click.
- No Extra Fees! Both physical and virtual cards are covered by your monthly pricing plan.
Where can Bento virtual cards be used?
Bento virtual cards may be used online or when making over-the-phone purchases where Visa debit cards are accepted. Just have the virtual card info ready when you make a purchase. View your virtual cards simply by logging into your Bento account.
How can Bento virtual cards be used?
At any time, you can create a virtual card (as an employee card or utility card) in your Bento account and start using it right away. The virtual card can be shared amongst your team members or only assigned to a specific employee.
The possibilities are endless! Share a virtual card number with employees for a one-off online purchase, add custom controls to cards and use them for recurring payments, or share unique card numbers with different billers for better tracking.
A few more examples below:
Create unique virtual cards for each vendor and use them for payment on that vendor’s invoices. You can set the spending limit of each card to be the exact amount due on the invoice. And each card can be turned off until the next invoice is due.
Your office probably uses multiple apps and services on a subscription basis. Create a unique virtual card for each subscription, set card limits based on fee and payment frequency, and you’re good to go. Of course, you can come back and edit the limits anytime you need to!
If you manage departments with staff who travel regularly, each department can create a virtual utility card designated for travel costs so that each staff member can use it to book hotels and flights before the trip. You can restrict the card spend category to travel only, and monitor spend by department.
Do you regularly buy placements for your clients’ (or your own) advertising campaigns? If so, create a unique virtual card for each client in order to separate client spend, or create a card for each regular campaign for even more control. You can then easily reconcile the costs for each client or campaign by filtering and downloading the card transactions.
We hope the addition of Bento virtual cards will give you even more flexible control over your business expenses! For more information about creating and using virtual cards, please visit our Support Center.
As always, we will continue to improve our products tirelessly and welcome your thoughts and suggestions any time!
* Whenever you add a new card in your Bento account, you should see an option to create the card as a virtual card. If you do not see this option, please contact our Support team.
